Classification of refractory materials

Acid refractory materials: refers to refractory materials containing a considerable amount of silica.

 

Neutral refractory materials: carbonaceous refractory materials, usually high alumina, corundum, zirconium corundum, and chromium refractory materials mainly composed of trivalent oxides are classified as refractory materials. (aluminum oxide, chromium)

 

Alkaline refractory materials: magnesium oxide, calcium or mixed (magnesia, calcareous, magnesia chromium, magnesia silica, dolomite and amorphous materials).

 

Siliceous refractory materials: refers to materials containing more than 90% Sio2, usually called siliceous refractory materials, which mainly include silica bricks and fused quartz products. Silica bricks are produced with silica as the main raw material, and their Sio2 content is generally not less than 93%. The main mineral composition is phosphorus quartz and cristobalite.

Magnesia refractory materials: refer to alkaline refractory materials with magnesia as the main raw material, periclase as the main crystal phase, and MgO content greater than 80%.

 

Dolomite refractory material: refers to the alkaline refractory material produced from natural dolomite as the main raw material. The main chemical components are: 30-42% Mgo and 40-60% Cao. The sum of the two should generally be greater than 90%. Its main mineral components are periclase and calcite (calcium oxide).

 

Carbon composite refractory materials: Refractory materials produced by combining different forms of carbon materials with corresponding refractory oxides. (coke, pitch, graphite)

 

Zirconium refractory materials: Refractory materials produced from zirconium-containing materials such as zirconium oxide and zirconite.

 

Special refractory materials: can be divided into carbonaceous products (carbon bricks and graphite products - good electrical and thermal conductivity); pure oxide products (alumina products, zirconia products, calcium oxide products - smelting precious metals, the main chemical component is oxidation Calcium, composed of calcite, with high purity, low impurities and high melting point); non-oxide products: silicon carbide, boron carbide, silicon nitride, boron nitride, zirconium boride, titanium boride, etc.);
